One generally does not know that there exists a torrid, feverish Belgium, washed with great waters by astonishing straits of the Mississippi. However, it is in this Belgium that the power trio “Lightnin’ Bug” was formed. Established in 1997 by Greg Janicki, a singer and lead guitarist with poignant and incisive playing capable of fiery outbursts of joy on his indestructible Stratocaster, he is accompanied by a high-flying rhythm section, sharp and precise like the hum of a jet engine, featuring Bidon on bass and Philippe Pahaut on drums. With three CDs to their name, “Landing on the Blues Ground”, “Lincolnshire Session” and “Blues Express”, these three musketeers offer you astonishing and explosive blues — sometimes languorous, sometimes thick and luscious, leaving stains, all with the touch of the greatest. And our three lads continue to go from surprise to surprise, having played some wonderful support acts for: Tom Principato, Melvin Taylor, Mojo Buford, Dr Feelgood, Paul Lamb, Boo Boo Davis, Amar Sundy, Smokey Wilson … in mythical venues such as La ferme de la Madelonne in Gouvy, The Blues Club, The Blues’n’Jazz Rally in Luxembourg, The Blues Express in Differdange, Le Petit Tonneau in Acosse, The Blues Sphere in Liège, The Taco’s Bar in Lausanne … and have been featured on numerous radios like Classic 21 … Ultimately, this trio should be savoured without moderation, a beer in hand, eyes closed, and ears wide open.
Line-up:
- Grégory Janicki aka “Greg” (electric guitar, vocals)
