Maya Likembe is the name of the band formed by Luxembourgish singer-songwriter and composer Mary-Ann Meiers. Drawing on jazz traditions, her music and vocals are also influenced by Latin, African and soul sounds. The project has thrived thanks to collaboration with musicians from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Their debut was the single Ardent Traveler, recorded in Luxembourg and the United States. They have also shared three live tracks and an interview from a Rocklabsession at the Rockhal in Belval. The latest update is the release of their EP “Spirituality is the beginning”, recorded at Tritone Studios, alongside a release concert in the Pause jazz concert series at Neimënster Abbey.
Event organised in the frame of the partnership between the associations Bluebird Music ASBL and Jazzinitiative Eifel e. V. regarding the mobility of musical ensembles between Luxembourg and Rhineland-Palatinate.
